Angel

Wakefield Hospice

The Angel is a symbol of optimism, peace and love. Produced alongside Patrick’s brother, Mick, it was made in recognition of the outstanding care that Wakefield Hospice, and all hospices, offer patients and their families.

Carved from Ancaster Weatherbed limestone, the sculpture has a gentle polish that reveals the beautiful natural colouration of the material. She sits in the peaceful gardens adjacent to the hospice entrance, a tranquil haven for patients and visitors to pause and reflect.

“This has been a very personal project for us. The idea began with a conversation with our mum, Dorothy, when she was at the hospice in 2017. It has taken a long time but we got there eventually. It is a thank you to the hospice for the wonderful care they gave her.

We owe thanks to a lot of people for helping this come to fruition, including Grahams Quarries, Matt Fairley, Darren Paine, Eddie Bennett, Wood Logistics, Block Stone Ltd and Hitachi Energy. We would also like to say thank you to everyone who has so kindly contributed to the install fund.”
