Gallery Works
A selection of exhibited works
In addition to large scale public art that is a central part of his practice, Patrick continues to produce bodies of work that he offers in group and solo exhibitions. These are grouped here into smaller sculptures, etchings and sculptural editions.
Smaller Sculptures
This collection brings together a selected representation of smaller sculptural works, each with the same care and sensitivity found in his larger public commissions. These pieces explore form, texture and balance on an intimate scale, inviting closer contemplation of the material and the artist’s process.
Recent bodies of work include ‘Air/ Water’ and ‘Volume/ Time’.
Air/ Water explores wave forms and repeated patterns, both in terms of form and surface. These sculptures can be small intimate pieces as well as monumental landmark sculptures. Employing fluid sweeping curves the sculptures seek to evoke a sense of movement belying the solidity and weight of the material.
Volume/ Time as a body of work explores the use of stone as a material. These sculptures are dictated by the natural properties of the stone; working with the volume of the material and emphasising its natural properties, formed through millions of years. The surface is meticulously finished by hand to exaggerate the form.
Available through the Lilford Gallery, they reflect Patrick’s ongoing dialogue between the monumental and the personal.
